Welcome to Berkeley Schools Volunteers (BSV)!
With the support of hundreds of dedicated volunteers, the Schools Fund’s Berkeley School Volunteers (BSV) provides invaluable support to students, families, and staff across the Berkeley Unified School District.
BSV consists of two distinct programs: Classroom Volunteers (CV), who provide weekly support in classrooms for students and teachers, and School Support Volunteers (SSV), who focus on district-wide initiatives such as food security, library support, and special projects.
Together, these programs help ensure that every student benefits from a high-quality public education. We invite you to explore the opportunities within each program and find the best fit for your skills and interests.
Participate in our BSV Classroom Volunteers Program and be matched with a BUSD Host Teacher in your preferred grade and subject. Provide one-on-one, small group, or whole-class support to help students thrive, while also assisting with behind-the-scenes tasks. A minimum commitment of one hour per week for the school year is required.
Become a BSV School Support Volunteer and assist with needs beyond the classroom, supporting youth, families, and staff. This flexible program allows for ongoing or one-time opportunities based on the school or district’s needs. Make an impact where it’s needed most!
If you want to volunteer in your child’s classroom, you can do so without joining BSV, but please get permission from your child’s teacher first.
For other volunteer roles or if you are a non-parent family member, you must register with BSV as required by law. Joining BSV also provides extra benefits, such as training sessions and an official volunteer badge!
